Interesting Sites

• The Moneyworld UK site, a personal finance magazine on the Internet, for information on how to organise your financial affairs through the Net.
• The Mastercard Home Page, an entertaining site with a library of stories from around the world supplied by users, and information about football championships worldwide.
• Another entertaining site is from the unlikely quarters of Direct Debit and the ad agency Euro RSCG Wnek Gosper. This site is of absolutely no practical use, but this is such a splendidly stupid site that you want to keep going on. [Simon Waldman of Media Week writing in Internet, November 1995. He has also written a Guide to Net Ads].
• www.enterprise.net (Enterprise PLC), in addition to being a Stroud and Papa Winsock-L mirror, is apparently interesting in its own right, although I didn't find it easy to navigate.
• Inland Revenue
• INFO-UK from ECU Internet Services plc claims to be "the first Internet database directory to list information (rather than websites by company)". It lists other UK Internet sites and covers Finance, Law and Accountancy. The Finance section seemed particularly useful.
• The Bull and Bear Financial Center describes itself as the "cyber pub for lovers of the free marketplace" and includes information on stocks and commodities as well as a chat room and details of courses.

• The Financial Times includes 30-minute delayed indices from the major world markets
• The Wall Street Journal
• Frankfurt Money Strategist has financial research (in English) focusing on German and EU-related currency and political information. A weekly digest can be read at the web site.

• MarketNet secure site provides pages for a number of suppliers including TrustGuard (Home Insurance), LawNet (Legal Services), ChocNet, TravelNet, FlowerNet, BankNet (Online Bank Accounts and ECheques)
• The Voyager Company, a beautiful web site from a company that sells CD-ROMs. It has been said that you should not buy anything without checking the prices carefully, but this site lets you browse its archive, download audio and video clips, view images and contact Voyager and other users
• The Cyberomics CD-ROM catalogue online
• I don't know how I got on the mailing list of CD Direct but their Winter 1995/96 catalogue says that you can now search and browse CD Direct's complete product database with over 3,000 CD titles! There's also a link to product reviews

Business Resources

• For an overview of what's available and an example of companies that have established an electronic presence, UK Business on the Web (http://www.u-net.com/ukcom/) provides an alphabetical listing of most British commercial Web sites, from the smallest, such as the Anchor hotel in Henley-on-Thames, to a leading corporation like Rank Xerox.
• From the same server, Business Bureau UK (http://www.u-net.com/bureau/) is a comprehensive list of resources and excellent indexed background articles and marketing tips which is particularly good for novice business users.
• The International Chamber of Commerce provides an indexed link to various chambers around the world and other sister sites.
• World Yellow Pages NETwork has the US Yellow Pages online and links to other business search sites worldwide
• Experimental UK Web Pages Classified Listing has a new classfied listing that uses Dewey Decimal Classification, allows keyword searching and also provides a facility for any user to make a new entry in the master catalogue.
• The UK company directory was disappointingly slow when I tried it
